aftermath updates

4.32 PM : Those held for questioning was released unconditionally by the police, after the intervention from Bar Council lawyers.  Everyone is released now, the youth who had his hand broken is sent to nearby hospital.

4PM : a youth in his 20s was beaten up badly, broken hand , and only given treatment after hours in detention! He was taken into custody and held at the Pusat Latihan pOlis , Setapak.

After 2Pm, when the crowd dispersed, police started to arrest any Indians within the KLCC vicinity , especially those who were having lunch at Pelita restaurant and Lotus Restaurant. Scores of people are being questioned now.

Updates at 2PM

Most of the buses are still kept at the police stations of Dang Wangi and Pusat Latihan Polis Setapak. In pusat Latihan polis Setapak, a large group of protesters are being questioned and allegations of mistreatment by police was reported by our sources there. Uthayakumar and other HINDRAF leaders called the crowd to disperse off peacefully and the situation there is now under control.

Despite earlier calls made , they are still some groups gathering around the area and in KL.

11.40 AM : It’s over. Crowd is starting to disperse, the large groups are embracing the HINDRAF leaders …most probably this will be the end show for today, since they cant hand in the memo.

A good samaritan sponsored hundreds of mineral bottles to the protesters.

11 AM Updates

Earlier ,few busses from Skudai were stopped at roadblock at Tangkak Johor and was escorted back.

Leaders of HINDRAF are at Restoran Saloma , nearby Zouk giving speeches. Situation is very calm and crowd is under control, except when fired tear gas every now and then

The crowd are at BSN building, estimated more than 10,000 and few thousands more still stranded at Batu Caves. ANother smaller groups at the other side of KLCC.

10.05 : Police shot another tear gas in front of Zouk.

10 AM : Some leaders are giving speech. They are singing devotional song right now, to seek blessing. The whole crowd is maintaining their discipline.
This is a peaceful rally and is being aimed at by the police.

The crowd is estimated to be at least 10,000 !

9.50 : Crowd still waiting, at standstill around the KLCC area. Police did not stop at all in using tear gas and etc.

9.41 AM : More tear shots fired, An elderly woman fainted.
9.40 AM : Some how some where, a policeman was reported to have been beaten up, was sent on Ambulance.

9.37 AM : Uthayakumar is giving his speech now right now at Hotel Mayaa.

9.20 AM :Police have started to use tear gas AGAIN. An old lady was seen hurt and was taken by a group of youths there. People are being targeted maximum level. Its hell there!

20-30 Lawyers infull suit from the Bar Council are there together with our people.

more than 10 tear gas cannister were fired at elderly and children, the Indian youths are throwingback the same cannister back towards the police!

the group in batu caves, were said to be locked inside and were subjected to tear gas as well.

The whole crowd is standing strongly despite the whole thing! Bravo.

Police just fire tear gasses, water canon with chemical laced liquid and everything they got. its chaos, but the people are very adamant, still standing strong. Children were hurt as well. Pic Later.

8-9 AM :

The main group in Jalan Ampang were sprayed with Chemical laced water. Witnesses said its worst than the previously used , around 3,000 are at Ampang park near the embassy. Another larger group are at KLCC. The PUTRA LRT service only stops at Kampung Baru, and almost all are walking from there towards KLCC.

The earlier group from Northern Region managed to get off the busses and now walking towards the main group @ Jalan Ampang. They are at KLCC now, will reach in 5-10minutes. No updates on the Batu Caves group
